Point Quobba, Blowholes

The Blowholes, located 75 kilometres north of Carnarvon on a paved road, are formed by powerful ocean swells forcing water through sea caves and narrow holes in the rocks. The jets of water can reach up to 20 meters in height, creating a spectacular sight for visitors.

Pinnacles

Located just south of the Blowholes, there is a coral-filled lagoon known to locals as the ‘Aquarium’. This peaceful spot is great for families or a beach picnic, with abundant fish and shells. It is also a perfect spot for snorkelling, particularly for beginners.

When visiting the Blowholes, it is recommended to plan ahead in order to have the best experience. The Blowholes are most active during periods of high tide when the water surges through the narrow holes in the rocks, causing jets of water to erupt. It is also advisable to bring plenty of supplies such as water, food, and other essentials for your adventure.

Uniquely Experiences

Coral Coast Helicopter Services, a local company, provides a half-day tour of the Point Quobba Blowholes. The 30-minute scenic flight departs from Carnarvon and takes you north along Miaboolya Beach and over Fitzroy Reef to the Blowholes and Point Quobba, known as the ‘aquarium’. You will land directly in front of your private rock pool.

Visitors have the option to explore the Blowholes and the surrounding area on foot, relax on the beach, or go snorkelling in the protected waters of the aquarium to see a variety of fish.
